Overview
Serves as a primary coordinator for executing digital media content that supports institutional marketing and storytelling efforts. This role works closely with the Collections, Education, and Exhibitions departments to translate programs, exhibitions, and initiatives into engaging digital experiences. The primary goal of this position is to strengthen and expand the organization’s online presence through strategic use of social media and digital platforms. This is an on-call position requiring flexibility in scheduling, including occasional evenings and weekends to support programs and events.
General Functions
The Orange County Regional History Center seeks a part-time Digital Media Coordinator to support the museum’s marketing and engagement efforts. This role is responsible for planning, creating and managing digital content in coordination with the marketing team to align with institutional branding and marketing goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a collaborative partner to internal departments to identify content, opportunities and key messages that will enhance and promote exhibitions, collections, and educational efforts
- Maintain a consistent and engaging voice across digital platforms
- Create, schedule, and publish content including short-form video, photo, and graphics across social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, or similar)
- Develop digital storytelling strategies to promote exhibitions, collections, programs, and special events in conjunction with Chief Marketing & Communications Officer
- Capture and edit photos, video, and other digital assets for marketing and promotional use
- Assist with the planning and execution of digital marketing campaigns as needed
- Provides customer service by monitoring social media channels, engaging with followers and responding to comments and messages with guidance from CMCO and Orange County Office of Communications
- Track performance metrics to support growth in online engagement and audience reach
- Track analytics and prepare basic reports on social media and digital performance
- Ensure content meets accessibility standards and follows institutional brand guidelines
- Stay current on digital media trends and recommend new approaches to increase visibility and engagement
- Provide regular maintenance for the Orange County Regional History Center and Historical Society of Central Florida websites.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- May need to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of social media platforms, digital marketing tools, and content management systems
- Comfortable creating digital content, including writing, photography, and basic video production/editing
- Strong understanding of branding, visual storytelling, and audience engagement strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team
- Experience using analytics tools to evaluate digital performance and inform strategy
- Familiarity with WordPress or similar web content management systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a museum, cultural institution, nonprofit, or public-sector organization
- Familiarity with SproutSocial or similar social media manager
- Familiarity with institutional marketing and public engagement strategies
- Experience with graphic design and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar)
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices for digital content
- Experience supporting campaigns aimed at increasing online presence and audience growth
